5 Tips for Aspiring Writers

Any author will tell you that writing can be a difficult and time-consuming process. That said, it doesn’t have to be an impossible one, especially if you take these five tips to heart.

1. Establish a Routine

Habits are what will keep you going despite the occasional struggle with writer’s block. If you sit in the same chair with the same cup of tea every time that you’re ready to write, your imagination will start to anticipate your needs as soon as the kettle starts whistling. Some writers even say that certain sounds and scents can kick-start their creativity when all else fails.

2. Don’t Worry About Editing

Nothing will ruin your “flow” faster than a 30-minute detour into obscure grammar laws. Don’t bother with things like proofreading while you’re still in the zone; let your creativity exhaust itself before you start combing through your work and looking for typos. You can always go back and edit later, but you might not always be able to recapture that flow.

3. Invest in the Right Equipment

Some authors prefer old-fashioned typewriters or their favorite word processors from yesteryear. Others prefer convenient technology like Olympus dictation equipment. There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to the platform that serves you as a creator; you just have to figure out what that platform actually looks like.

4. Write Non-Linearly

This is another tip that encourages you to take advantage of your productive moods without worrying about things like scene breaks and punctuation marks. If you feel inspired to write chapter six instead of chapter three or four, go for it! Once the whole thing is finished, none of your readers will know or care about the order in which it was completed.

5. Read

Last but certainly not least, the best way to improve your writing is to read. Read your favorite authors and figure out what it is that you like about them; read new authors and take note of what does and doesn’t work for you in terms of plots, characters and settings. It might sound strange, but you can really discover yourself through the writings of other people.

These are just a few tips for all of the aspiring authors in the world. After all, you never know who will become the next great literary success. Why shouldn’t it be you?

Your Health: Finding the Right Primary Care Physician

Finding the right doctor could mean the difference between making, and keeping, regular appointments and avoiding doctor visits at all costs. That is why it is vitally important to your overall health and well-being that you find a doctor that fits your style and needs. While this can be a bit of a challenge, with a little due diligence and the following tips, you’ll find doctor in South Florida that that works best for you.

Are they in your network?

No matter how much you like a doctor, whether or not they are in your insurance network can mean the difference between choosing that medical professional as your primary care physician and going with someone else. Since insurance is such an important aspect in your healthcare, you should start your search for a doctor by consulting with your insurance company. Most insurance companies offer an online portal that lists all the doctors in your area who are also a member of your insurance network. Once you have this information in hand you will be able to make a more informed decision to which doctor you should choose for your primary care.

Who do your friends and family recommend?

One of the best ways to find a doctor is to get recommendations from family and friends. After all, who better to tell you their experience than those whom you trust the most? You can also search on line for reviews of the doctor and their office. There are several online websites that allow patients to rate and review doctors. This information can be extremely useful when trying to figure out which doctor did use. Keep in mind, however, that even the best doctor is bound to have some less than stellar reviews. That’s something you should consider when reading online reviews.

Do they have any sanctions against them?

Cross reference the doctors you are considering with your state’s medical board to determine whether or not they have any sanctions against them. These could include alcohol or drug abuse, fraud, or medical negligence.

What are their policies?

Before making a final decision, learn a bit more about the office and their policies. Find out if they offer aftercare hours and if they don’t what is their policy in emergency situations. Ask how long it generally takes to schedule an appointment, whether or not they accept walk-ins, and how long the waiting room time is. All this information should be a deciding factor when choosing a primary care physician.
