Measles outbreak in Metro Manila, Philippines

The Department of Health (DOH) Philippines has declared a Measles outbreak in five (5) cities in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Caloocan
  • Dagat-dagatan
  • Bagong Barrio
Las Piñas
  • Talon Singko
  • Talon Dos
Manila
  • Quiapo
  • Port Area
  • Sta. Mesa
  • Binondo
  • Sta. Cruz
Muntinlupa
  • Alabang
Parañaque

Measles is a viral disease that is preventable by vaccination. The DOH thru the Barangay Health Units are giving free measles vaccination to vulnerable children age 0-59 months. Symptoms of measles include coughing, redness of the eye, colds and a temperature greater than 40 degrees celcius.

So mothers of children from 0-59 months, it is best to see your respective health units and get your children vaccinated or better yet see you pediatricians then.
