According to the Philippine Department of Health (DOH), there was a rise of 22 per cent of the number of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases in the country for the month of December 2013 compared to December 2012. Previously, a total of 293 cases were reported but now, there were 358 new cases documented.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, as we all know, can lead to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) which is basically a dreadful one. Of the reported 358 new cases, 318 of which were contracted from an unprotected sex with men having sex with other men, the predominant method of sexual transmission. Other means of infection is through sharing of needle injection between drug users.
