Though I had been studying Pediatrics for a year now, I still am getting panic when I first saw two (2) small whitish-yellow cysts in the palate of my little boy a day after I gave birth to him. Those were just actually normal cysts usually seen in newborn infants.

Epstein pearls also called Palatal cysts of the newborn are formed during the development of the palate by entrapped epithelium (fissural cyst). These cysts do not case any harm on the baby. They require no treatment and they just spontaneously resolve in the few weeks of life.
