Mental Activities helps keep Aging Brains Healthy

I keep telling and reminding my mom to always keep the mind — the brain, busy by reading newspapers or any articles or play mind games, instead. Some of the articles that I always suggest to her are the recent and those updated ones that either are available online or those printed papers. For mind games, puzzles, memory guessing games or the analytical games, like Sudoku, are what I always encourage her to play.

These idea are learned from advices from our professors who are also medical doctors. For me, these are still fully not understood but I just told myself, there’s nothing wrong to follow or try these advices then. However, with the recent study presented at the Radiological Society of North America, reading, writing and other mental activities can preserve the structural integrity of the brain of aging or older people.

Perhaps this was one of the reasons why it is advised to continue reading and writing even if we are getting older.
